Hey, everyone! Jake the Cat here. This is my very first blog post to tell you about what’s happening in the studio. It took me a really long time to learn how to type with my cute little paws (that’s why I missed January…) but I’m going to try my best. I’m also going to use lots of pictures of myself. Below is me at work when I’m not taking naps. Easy now, ladies…

Sarah, my awesome mom, will be at Handmade with Love on Saturday, February 9. I’m told it’s a Valentine’s-themed craft show at Easthampton’s Eastworks and is perfect for last-minute shoppers like myself. She will have new EAT dishtowels in red, pink pillows and love-themed food illustrations for a picture frame. I approve of all of these things, ps. She’ll even have these neat little upcycled Japanese tea cup catch-alls.

Mom has also been traveling around to interview and photograph women who do amazing things with food. The project will be part of a solo show in September at ECA+ Gallery. Burns runs the gallery and she has a cat called Major Tom. I’ve never met him but I bet he likes David Bowie as much as Chris and Lucy the Dog do.

Lou of Lou’s Upcycles visited the studio. She drove all the way from Wendell to try out our heat press. I sat at the top of the stairs and listened: Apparently, Lou spends a really long time making her special recycled plastic fabric. This machine would cut her time in half or maybe more! She’s made a Kickstarter to raise money to get one for her studio. She reached the goal for her project and people still keep donating! Isn’t that great? Also, Lou also has two cats, which I thought that was pretty exciting.
That’s it for this month. See you in March!
wow jake, your mom’s been super busy!
